Choosing a diamond is an important decision for anyone. Rosdave subscribes to 4C’s of Diamonds. According to De Beers “The 4Cs are a set of objective and widely accepted standards used by jewellers and gemmologists to compare diamonds.”

Understanding
the 4C’s of diamonds

Fire, brilliancy and scintillation of a diamond are largely determined by the proportions of various parts of the diamond. Finish grade mainly evaluates the symmetry.

Most diamonds are colourless to slightly tinted. The colour grade is determined by comparison with a series of masterstones, the best grade being colourless ( D, exceptional white + ).

Diamonds can also occur in all sorts of “fancy colours”, Red, Pink, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow and Brown.

When purchasing a fancy colour diamond, the colour intensity – the deepness or richness of the colour – is the most important consideration. The more intense the diamond’s colour, the rarer and more valuable the diamond will be.
